What You Should Be Posting During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Social media use has skyrocketed during the Coronavirus. At Shaw Search Partners, we’re seeing more engagement on our social media pages most likely because more people are online. According to Social Media Today, Facebook has seen its largest jump in followers since 2011. LinkedIn is in the same boat, reporting a climb in growth and record engagement since the start of COVID-19. With LinkedIn engagement way up, staying active on the platform is a no-brainer. Here are some ideas of what you should be posting on LinkedIn during the pandemic.
Check your profile.
If you’ve been meaning to update your profile but haven’t had the chance to do it, now is the time. Do you have a professional image on your profile? Is your work experience up to date? Tying up any loose ends around your profile will ensure that even when social distancing, a visit to your page will give someone an idea of your professionalism and reputation.
Talk about your real life “post-Corona.”
To some extent, we’re all really in this together. Use an authentic voice and post about real-life experiences on your LinkedIn page. Posts about; remote working, social distancing, crisis management and business pivots are popular because they’re relatable. Having a hard time motivating your remote work team? Be honest and put out a call for suggestions on LinkedIn. Share your successes as well! Did you host an exceptionally productive Zoom meeting. Let your community know what worked for you and how you organized it.
Comment on posts and issues relevant to you and your industry.
Now is the time to stay involved in the conversation. Spend some time on LinkedIn scrolling the feed. If a post is relevant to you or your industry, comment on it. You likely have valuable insight and information to share. Be sure to contribute. During this time, more than ever, it’s so important to engage and stay tapped in to the community at large.
Stay on top of the news and share credible news-worthy articles.
The news is changing seemingly by the second. If you’re inspired to share an article or news reference. Be sure to check the source first. With so many falsified news outlets cropping up, it’s imperative to be sure your news forum is credible and authentic.
