Reentering a Post Covid World

Some of us have barely left the house in the last year so transitioning back into life could be a challenge. At Shaw Search Partners, as experts in corporate recruiting, we’ve been helping folks find remote positions throughout the pandemic. Now that many of us are ready to reenter the world, here are some tips to help ease you back into life, post Coronavirus.

Go Easy

No matter how you look at it, this is a transition. Take your time rejoining the world! Pace yourself and focus on one step at a time.

Set Your Boundaries

Maybe you just want to hang out with your friends outdoors or you’ll only hang out with friends who are fully vaccinated. Whatever your comfort level might be, drill down on the things that make you feel safest during this post-pandemic time. Be comfortable speaking up for yourself.

Let Go of Your Expectations

Maybe you’re heading back into the office or maybe you’ve secured a remote position. After this past year, it would be tricky to go quickly from zero to 100. With so much of the world reopening, it might be easy to celebrate a quick return to normal! Let go of how you think things “should” go and embrace what is. We’ve never done this before!

Increase Your Self Care

Identify the things that fill your cup. Maybe it’s a good run or a yoga class or a walk with a friend. Whatever leaves you feeling energized and content is self care. After a time of mostly being in a small group, maybe you need to socialize more. “Our need to be part of a social group, this is built into being human,” Kanter says. “I think if anything, among the many lessons of the pandemic, it’s really made it clear to people how important our relationships are.” Pick a few things each week and incorporate them into your routine.

Be Gentle With Yourself

Have patience with yourself. This has been a time like no other. Set intentions for your new post-Covid life and try not to get distracted by social media, etc. Don’t doomscroll

When the world came to a screeching halt last year, in some ways it gave all of us the opportunity to think about how our lives would look when it opened back up. Now’s your chance to create a more intentional life. Are you looking for a career/job change after Covid? We can help. Contact us today.
