Social Media Marketing & Keeping Yourself In the Know

A closeup of a smart phone browsing Instagram: Social Media Marketing has become one of the top marketing fields in the past years.

At Shaw Search Partners, we always aim to be continuous learners — expanding, growing and adapting to changing trends in the recruiting and marketing landscape. We also work to stay informed about emerging trends in the marketing world to better serve our corporate partners and clients.

With that in mind, social media is ever-changing. The example referenced below from a locally-based consumer brand sheds some interesting light on both influencer strategy and social audience sizes.

In the fall of 2020, Dunkin Donuts launched a partnership with TikTok mega celeb Charli D’Amelio. Boston.com states,

““The Charli,” which debuted Sept. 2, is a new Dunkin’ drink based on the go-to order of 16-year-old Charli D’Amelio, who is currently the most followed person on TikTok with 84.8 million followers. D’Amelio, a Connecticut native, has regularly expressed her love both for Dunkin’ and her signature dance moves.”

As this example illustrates, influencer marketing is certainly here to stay as well, because audiences sizes as large as 84 million simply cannot be ignored. As marketers work to create industry standards for vetting, measuring and understanding ROI, influencers are continuing to innovate and embrace new technology to keep their content fresh and relevant.

Keeping an eye on social trends, new platforms and understanding the present social landscape is also key in any marketing job search. Being able to comfortably discuss relevant social strategy, and having a few specific campaign examples in mind, can help distinguish you from competitors who could be more focused on traditional tactics.
